I am a Southern, Black girl. Born in Tuscaloosa, AL. I managed to live in different places, but somehow I always land back home. I've always "liked school", which made me different from an early age. Consequently, my journey gave me a myriad of opportunities.
After high school and college, I was led (and still am) on a spiritual journey that gave me thrilling and difficult experiences that have shaped who I am.
I joined a great church (Impact Nation), went to an HBCU, and two PWIs, Stillman College, Samford University, and the University of Alabama, respectively. I met lifelong friends, sorors, colleagues, spiritual leaders/pastors, spiritual mentors, and framily.
I met people from all walks of life, helping me to be free to love all humankind. I got a PhD, which seems so impossible, and I continue to do the intellectual work. Life took me on an interesting path, but there is purpose in everything. All these experiences shaped me.
Who am I? A Black, Southern girl, a follower of Jesus, a scientist, an academic and researcher, a friend, a soror, a sister, a mentor, an educator, and a community advocate.
